Can someone smarter then I tell me what the max number of processor's Ultimate Ubuntu Linux can handle?
Also the max amount of ram.
Working on building a monster and can not find this info anywhere.
Thanks Guys.........

If it is a 32 bit operating system it will only be able to address 4GB.
This is because the maximum a 32 bit unsigned integer can hold is 4,294,967,295. I
just did the maths on what a 64 bit integer can hold and it is 18,446,744,073,709,551,615.
I think 64 bit operating systems will be able to handle our memory requirements for a while![]()
1.Intel x86:
Maximum CPUs: 32 (including logical CPUs)
Maximum memory: 64GB
Maximum filesize: 8TB
Maximum filesystem size (ext3) 16TB
Maximum per-process virtual address space: 4GB
2.AMD64/EM64T:
Maximum CPUs: 64
Maximum memory: 128GB
Maximum filesize: 8TB
Maximum filesystem size (ext3): 16TB
Maximum per-process virtual address space: N/A
These are standard max limitations whereas Linux cluster systems can scale up to 1024 CPU's..
And Maximum number of processes Linux 2.6 kernel can handle is:
Maximum number of threads: 32000
Maximum number of threaded processes: 32000
Maximum number of processes: 32000
