So far so stable... rescue floppy???

Postby dougal » Fri Mar 25, 2011 4:26 am

I can't help this... when I had a look through the 'Start-up Manager' settings I came across a button marked 'Rescue Floppy'. Okay I know what it is but, I can't help wandering in this day and age when so many computers are coming out without a floppy drive - WHY?

There must be so many young people starting to use alternative systems to Windows and Mac that will see this and think - "What is a floppy"?

Well, why do we have this option?

Should it not read - "Rescue CD" or "Rescue USB Stick" or something else, modern?

I do hope no Windows users take notice of how backward this is compared with the modern look and feel of the rest of the system.

I am not trying to cause offence - I thought it was quite quaint and had to laugh but, surely we should have a better option, no?

Start up manager is an app that is included for its resolution function only ! TheeMahn did not Wright this nor is he willing to reinvent thee wheel ! S U M Is becoming an out dated app and its developers are not keeping with the times ! you are totally accurate in your summation ! and we are always looking for new and updated, cutting edge apps ! and will replace or include them as there functions reflect ! :ugeek:

I completely understand Johnny, I realize how much work there must be in producing such a stable and nice to work with OS and hats of to those of you (TheeMann especially) that are doing so much to enrich our lives with having this nice OS.
If I come across anything I shall ask for opinions with a view to having something included.

I wish I knew what to do about making something so important, I just don't have the know-how.

Just noticed I have been promoted to College Prof - I had to laugh because I have been mistaken for our Vice-Principal here at the Uni where I work but, I am by no means a Professor - only of my own thoughts...
