Multi-file rename in file manager?

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 2.8

Multi-file rename in file manager?

Postby dougal » Wed Jan 26, 2011 7:56 am

Hi folks - this is probably quite simple but, how the hell do we change the name on multiple files at the same time - you know, like the other inferior operating system does easily.
No right click option to rename when all files selected in Nautilus.

Is there another file manager that will do this? I work with a lot of fotos of the same subject and renaming them one by one is quite time consuming.

Thanks again for any help.

I could give a instant answer, however you are wanting a GUI based alternative. I could write what you are looking for if you were more specific. Please provide me an example.

Subfolder involvement? I deal with 100's of thousands of files and handle in secs w/o human intervention. I am writing software for GUI now, to do the same.
