firefox missing minimize and close. cat walked on key board.

all was working well until my cat walked across the key board. firefox was open at the time. after that I have no minimize or close tab in the right corner. and firefox now looks to be in full screen mode but is not. it covers my launch panel at bottom of screen. no other app does this. sorry it sounds so stupid but i have tried all that i know which must not be enough.

Seen this many times. Easy fix, first get it to a minimized window. You might need to move to panel to the bottom for a sec just to get to controls.

Might also try reloading windows decoration by right clicking compiz icon and reload.

Normally thou, firefox controls hide behind the top panel.

Note: tested as 100% theme based problem. Mix between system theme base and firefox theme base.

not sure i totally understand what you are telling me. I do not see anything that mentions compiz. I am using 2.8 lite if that matters.

If it is installed, it would be found in applications/system tools/compiz

Icon will be a blue square with a pointer in it at the top panel.

right click / restart windows manager

no compiz there. only task manager and ultimatix.
The program 'compiz' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install compiz-core

ok, so now just make sure controls are not hid behind panel.

Enter full screen in Firefox and back out of full screen. That commonly works , but I would suggest a new theme for firefox, I like the chromifox extreme carbon theme my self.

That theme is supper stable and looks nice.

Might also suggest trying another theme for your Ultimate Edition 2.8 lite.
