WACOM Bamboo Touch Tablet support...

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 2.8

WACOM Bamboo Touch Tablet support...

Postby dougal » Sun Dec 26, 2010 1:17 pm

Hi guys

I am considering buying a Wacom Bamboo Touch Graphics Tablet for use with the GIMP for some foto work that I do for myself and family.
Does anyone have any experience with these tablets and Linux - specifically Ultimate Edition.

The one I am interested in has the 2 finger gesture Zoom capability and looking at the Linux Wacom project pages it looks like it might actually work with a little effort on my part through setting up the X environment conf file.
How might altering the X file affect Ultimate Edition?

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks.

I had a Toshiba M750 (found out it was stolen and got rid of it). Everything worked on it off the rip including wireless minus the fingerprint reader. I could spin the cube etc off Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 live using nothing but the pen. They also make a version of the M750 that has finger touch capability, It is not multi-finger, so swipe will work zoom will not. I imagine would also work off the rip. It was very impressive & fast. I really miss it. According to the article HP tx2 TouchSmart and the Dell Latitude XT2 do, but I have no idea if they work with Ultimate Edition. Anyone that has a HP tx2 TouchSmart or Dell Latitude XT2 want to chime in?

Thanks for the reply TheeMann and praise again for a great system. have had only one 'temporary' glitch with the Window manager since 2.8 came out. Don't know what happened, it involved slecting an emoticon within another forum when the Window manager seemed to blink and I lost some of the frame border and a black rectangle appeared behind my Cairo dock. Anyways, reloading the manager through the Compiz icon fixed it straight off till next time. For some strange reason all has been well again for the last few days.

Anyways, your reply about the touchpad???

Although, the Tosh looks very interesting I am after a graphics pad - perhaps I should have been clearer.

It is nice to work with a graphics pad off to the side and see my results on a larger monitor.

Thanks again, especially for all your good work in helping to make my computing life some much more rewarding.

The only time I use MS stuff these days is when I HAVE to.
