Hello everton.

Here is How To get it done.

tar is a compression technology used to create a Tape Archive. The resulting file is known as a Tarbell.

If you have Window, this is the same as a Zip file. You use winzip to compress and uncompress .zip files. So its the same idea. To uncompress the files (or to get the files out of a Tarbell), you can use the following commands in Linux.

Code: Select all
tar xvf filename.tar

If the tarball has also been gzipped (compressed), you can use the following command:

Code: Select all
tar xvfz filename.tar.gz

If you only want certain directories from the tarball, do this:

Code: Select all
tar xvzf filename.tar.gz */dir.you.want/*

If you have a .tar.bz2 file, then you need bzip2 installed (/usr/ports/archivers/bzip2), and you issue this command:

Code: Select all
tar yxf filename.tar.bz2

Hello everton ! When you click the tar.gz a small window should open, do you click "save file" ? When I tested the download the .wav file not a .tar.gz was downloaded, Once you have the file on your desktop, open a terminal type sudo nautilus ,Then navigate to filesystem>usr>share>sounds>Ultimate Edition 2.4>stereo and drag the new .wav file into the 2.4 sounds folder,It will ask if you want to replace the existing file, click replace and close out the open windows and reboot you should be good to go ! :D If you have any questions or problems feel free to PM me and I will try to help! ;)

"filename" is generic. Use the actual file's name there.

Hello,

I think you may have accidently told the system to log in auto, bypassing the log in screen and those sound effects. If so, you need to unselect the auto log in (in the System/Admin/login screen) click unlock, type in password and then check the box to "Show the screen for choosing who will log in."

Is this what you wanted/needed?
1)HPE-500F a 6 core @ 2.70 Ghz, with 8 gigs of Ram and a 1.5 T HD
