Lol actually I tried that, it was trying to create a fake raid out of a single drive... I'm going to try the upgrade for now and see what happens... Is there a way to save a profile of all the installed programs in case the upgrade uninstalls them?

Well thanks for your help guys but I've given up...
I've tried removing dmraid, reinstalling grub2, repairing grub2, adding to grub2, and hours of other things. The install dvd refuses to mount either of my drives no matter what I do. I have decided to just stick with Ultimate edition 2.3 and update themes :P, there's too much testing in Ubuntu 9.10 for me to want to deal with. Thanks for all the help guys.

For those of you interested in the other stuff I tried go here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/ubuntu-9.10-nstallation-insists-my-hard-drives-are-raid...-there-not.-785722/
