Can't get this far! I am having problems with (so far) Amarok, Banshee, and Rhythmbox. There may be issues with other programs, but I haven't tried them yet - also surprised to not see Songbird installed!
Amarok: except for the intro screen, all the fonts are black or grey boxes, and illegible. I am not having this issue with any other program (so far) The easy solution would be to go to the Preferences in Amarok and set the fonts, but I can't See anything in the menues, it's all grey blocks! This seems to be Amarok 1.4 I have Amarok 2.2 nightly build installed and so far that looks like it will work

Banshee gives me a big blank window and just hangs

Rhythmbox acts like it wants to start and disappears.

All of these are standard from the install.


Oh, I want to install Songbird, but it doesn't show up in Ubuntu Tweak or Synaptic, but does in Ultramatix. I will let you know if that has issues... It does, it won't install. It won't find the package

so many problems on the same machine
All Red alert has to be working for you.
your problems start from your Audio=not supported by installing the packages for Audio Video.
I will start and say this.
U.E 2.4 can work with 2 Mixers on the same session!!!
From here all the Audio issues are gone.
you have to add Alsa mixer side by side with Pulse Audio.
To add the Alsa Mixer=>Gnome Mixer.
To add Pulse Mixer=>Pulse Audio Applet+Pulse Audio Volume control.
There is no software until now that I have any issue with sound,Video problems at all.

Do I have to go on Don't think so right.
install plug in for your Mixers and support for Audio Video and all will be good

Go to System-Administration-Software Sources, Third-Party Software tab, Add:
