Hey all!
Before continuing, I just want to thank you for making such an awesome edition and that your talent and time is appreciated here.
I decided to download and install the ultimate edition 2.3 on my sons machine. The problem i'm experiencing is after installing the Ultimate Edition using the whole disk on a 120 gb hard drive, I get the following message on the reboot:
"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert bootable media and hit enter"
Only way to get back in is by using the install cd. Obviously I'm new, any ideas how to fix this boot issue? No other operating systems installed.

Hello rockerhard and welcome to the U.E Forum.
Restart the machine,go to the BIOS settings,and change the boot from to HDD.
It looks like you set thereto start from CD/DVD.

I would say the first question should be...Rockerhard did you have to go into the bios to boot the live disk at all?

Hmm..my reply to your post disappeared...
Yea, I went into the bios and choose the cd as first device. Booted from cd. Choose english as language. Then it continued to boot into the desktop environment. All other times installing ubuntu it installed before reaching the desktop environment.
I choose install from the icon on the top left. Install seemed to go fine, got prompt to reboot. Rebooted and went into bios and changed it back to hd as first boot device. And getting that boot error message since. Should I just reinstall it?

Did you get the DVD out before you restart the machine out from the tray?
or Restart with the DVD inside the try?

Amir is on the ball.Go back into the bios,and have it boot from the hard drive.Sometimes you can press Esc,and a bois window will pop up with a list of drives to choose to boot also.

After restarting, the cd was in the tray. It ejected automatically.....

there is your problem right there.
the process of the installation end with the part that you have this screen:
all most in the end with request to get the DVD out from the try and close the try,
then you have to hit the Enter batten.
that is your problem with the process of your installation.

If the dvd was left in wouldn't it just boot the live disk?just a thought.

I see! I've installed ubuntu on dual boots on 3 of our computers, and I always have got a screen that said to remove the cd and hit enter. I'll give it another shot.
