compiz reseting and avant window manager probs

Postby deeds3353 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 6:18 pm

I've installed 2.3 recently and havn't noticed to many probs, (exept my sound not working, which was fixed by Cell, nice one m8!).
Ive now had 2.3 on my laptop for 2 weeks and love it but have now noticed that my compiz extra efects keep reseting to desktop wall, instead of cube/rotate cube and the animations add on keeps going off so burn and random stops working. Also my Avant window manager stops working at the same time. :?
I think I know what is causing it, my visual effects setting keeps changing from Extra to None. Why its doing this I dont know but I put the hardware drivers on after install and all has been good but sometimes I restart and it all goes back to none (visual effects).
Pleez can some-one help as I really like these settings and the "eye candy" is one of the reasons, for me anyway, why I like Linux more than the lets say "other" os's....

Try having fusion-icon start with your desktop. Also I personally have not found any difference between the Normal and Extra. I would leave it on Normal if there is no difference.

This sounds like something that kept happening to me.I was tweaking with ubuntu tweak, and set some settings with compiz with it.Those settings seems to over ride anything else, and every time I rebooted It would fall back, and I would have to set normal in the display manager.....so did you use ubuntu tweak for anything?

Go to System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager, when the program is loaded, check to see if you have "ccsm-simple" installed. If not, i recommend you installing it, as i strongly believe this could fix your problem!!
