Optimal hardware to run Ultimate Edition 2.2...

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.2

Optimal hardware to run Ultimate Edition 2.2...

Postby Formido » Wed Mar 09, 2011 6:24 pm

I've found minimal system requirements, but looking for anything else (release notes, hardware compatibility list, etc.) to design best hardware setup for this OS. I'm preparing to have PC done via custom-build shop. I'm looking to have Athlon II (x2, x3, or x4) or Phenom II (x2, x3, or x4) CPU, and prefer to avoid any/all Intel or NVIDIA components, but other than this, I'm willing to cater to Ultimate Edition 2.2 needs for best operation.

Confused

Why Ultimate Edition 2.2, this OS is for much OLDER outdated hardware.

you need to focus on Ultimate Edition 2.9 my friend.

Athlon II 3 Ghz
2 GB DDR 2 800 or DDR 3 1333
ATI HD integrated or nvidia 8-9 series integrated

Or better (this is minimal ideal)

this would be my suggestion for ideal minimal , build like this can be had for Under $300.00 US .

Done right on a budget

Athlon II 3 Ghz (or better) x4
4 GB DDR 3 1333 7 7 7 24 or DDR 3 1600 7 7 7 24
ATI HD 5770 (or better)

Looking around $450 US for a build like this on a budget.

I was advised on other forum to go with 2.2, so its what I focused research on. Delving into it was a chore, so unless "2.9" is like ultra superior, I'd rather not do research again. 2.2 fills all my needs. I'm not sure you understood my post...or maybe I'm not understanding your use of "minimal". To clarify, I already have minimum system requirements. I'm wanting to design hardware setup that will run Ultimate Edition at best and optimal ability. I have zero interest in budget hardware route, or upgrading every few years...I'm wanting best I can get, and aiming for 'future proofing' scenario. Thought I should clarify...apology if I misunderstood!

I am running 2.9 on a 2ghz Athlon 64, with 3G of RAM, it runs just fine in Gnome, KDE, and others.

yes man, 2.9 is ultimately superior and faster.

2.2 will not support todays tech.

Just not built into the kernel headers.

2.2 was for a different era .

future proofing with linux is soooooo much easier then with windows lol.

Look at my main rig, hexa core at decent speeds with decent ddr 3 1600. Last time you will need to upgrade in years.

Same here, except 32-bit. Dual-booting with Windows 7 Ultimate, 160GBs total system memory, split 50-50 with 6GB set up as swap. Compaq Presario CQ60. Runs like a screaming bat outta hell, lol! $300 at Wal-Mart.
I love Ultimate Edition & Oz Unity
