When I try to start my system I am getting "Usplash: No usable theme found, screen init failed" I am at a loss as to how to fix this as presumably I need to change the usplash theme from the recovery terminal. More worrying than this though I also see this on start up:

What on earth does that mean, help please appreciated in advance.

Hi, Have you tried going to system>Administration>start up manager>Appearance, and setting your usplash
As far as the code goes ...... I can't help.

Oh , you cant even log in.! HHMMMM? I will look into this,I or someone else will get back to you asap! Until then,Were you ever able to log on ? If so, Do you remember what it was you did last, before shutting your system down, Something that might have "broke" the system !?

also try booting to rescue mode at grub screen and drop to netroot type in startx
see if that will get you into your desktop, Then check preferences>display and see if it is set to your resolution .
Do you have a flash drive plugged in ?
Have you changed any hardware, or graphics drivers ?
Just throw'n some ideas out to ya .

Tried as you suggested and managed to log on as root so I just changed the usplash theme and then logged in as myself. Sorted, cheers for your help.
