How to enable numlock allways on ?

There are two kernels for example compatibility issues. Say for example you have a Web cam thats doesn't work with kernel number 1, the possibility is there that it may work with kernel number 2!!

You can enable num lock in your system BIOS so that it is always on during startup!!

Did you read the ati notes?

Code: Select all
aticonfig -f

After you install.the first thing to do is to see if there are any updates...before you mess with the graphics.(I don't know if you got that far...)

But like I said...if it isn't working....probably not supported.I read many people were having problems with the x2 graphics over on the ubuntu forum.Maybe use the first kernel that is in the boot list.

Also you don't need to repartition.Just install over the existing ones....make sure its the right ones.

edit:I see your having other troubles besides graphics.Have you checked your dvd's checksum to make sure the burn was good?

I actually made a script for Windows which can disable it when loading on startup ;) I am chatting now from my phone so cannot tell 100% but can you check menu.lst for num lock? Thanks. I am almost sure that I have seen it there.

bios numlock says allways on, but ubuntu doesnt understand it somehow.
The light is on but its not working unless i press it one more time. Light wont go off, it will just start working.

So reinstalling dont need repartitioning ?
Hmm would it wipe everything out or not ? I mean the bad driver (its good its just linux dont want it) will be removed or will stay, cas thats what i am trying to remove.
get aprt remove dont work so i saw forrmat is the only way to go.

Oh and can i avoid loading live session and just start the installation ? CAs it takes t much time to load livesession.

There is a small checkbox "format" bu the partitioning table it selfchecks when you make a new partition with different size, however if you will delete the partition and make exact the same size the box will not selfcheck so you will have to do it manually, i mean check it...
