Erm...no....I didn't realize I had to do that......and, the reason I haven't gotten a new WiFi card, is because mine has worked just fine for the last YEAR.....I don't want to dig around in my laptop and risk breaking it, nor do I want to spend money on a network card, when I know there are drivers that work for it >_<.
I'm gonna DL Jaunty and see if that fixes the wireless.....something had to have gone wrong with my upgrade, because it ended up borking my partition anyhow....whole thing won't boot up now.

IT WORKS IT WORKSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wireless active right from the LiveCD and working in the fresh Jaunty install!!! , now, how do I install the theme for Ultimate Edition?

EDIT: mmm....but now I have no graphics drivers.....what do I select in Synaptic, to install the 180 Nvidia graphics driver?

EDIT: nevermind....something's not working right with it....it'll connect to my router, but it's running at 1Mbps, and won't seem to let much of anything through the wireless....but if I enable the MadWifi driver, it kills the wireless completely...>_<.

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO...Damn, I'm in Debian now, look under System Prefs or Admin, there should be 'Hardware Drivers'...use that...it will install the proprietary "already included" with Jaunty...you'll have 3d and everything with it!!

I can't, the ath5k free driver for my wireless lets it connect to my router, and now it's even going as high as 54Mbps, but when I tell it to DL the drivers and install them, it just sits here at 0%.....it's as if it's connected, but only sending enough data so that it doesn't time out....

EDIT: It timed out, and gave a message that reads:

Sorry, the Jockey backend crashed. Please file a bug report at:
ubuntu-bug jockey-common
Trying to recover by restarting backend.

Any ideas?

make sure port 80 is open (I think it's that one), or whichever it is that most of the repos are set to download over...I'm on Jaunty now

I need to be able to DL the graphics drivers, because my laptop's resolution is rather small, which keeps cutting off windows and crap....but I don't know why I can't connect to DL the drivers....is it because of that "Jockey" program? I'm surfing with Firefox on the laptop right now, so I know I'm online and my wireless works...
