13.10 Builders be advised!

Postby BBOSAK2143 » Fri Feb 14, 2014 10:20 am

Just a quickee before I get back to tasks at hand. Those building 13.10 may run into troubles with printer drivers and Google Earth desktop. Previously I found a fix online, but now I have more of the solution as have done it personally! Solution comes from insisting I would have my printer drivers installed in the image so is ready to go when system is installed(Hopefully this weekend!!!) Anyway in 13.10 files called in priority are libqt3-mt, libjpeg62 and lsb-multimedia_4.1 that are seemingly not installing when uses command "apt-get install lsb-core". We have to remember those files are present or programs such as Google Earth will not function properly and many drivers for printers will also not install leaving conflicts. Now libqt3-mt is not available in Saucy Repos so you have to grab it from Precise 12.04LT and install manually! As I have an EpsonXP-300 printer this was a necessary task to resolve conflicts. All installed quite nicely and hopefully after some other things are resolved will be ready for system install within the next few days. Other two files are in Saucy repos but not under the Updated heading as are regular files. For some reason they were skipped during install on this OS am building and feel if this happened to me it could happen to other builders or even normal distros! Be advised all files in .deb format. For all the newbies out there remember most of these debs are coexistant and have to be installed simultaneously. So gather all your .debs and put them in place for extraction and issue command "dpkg -i *.deb". This will resolve the conflicts when these programs have all their dependencies!

Built Ultimate Edition 4.0 a saucy build has cup installed 0 issues. Those errors will no longer effect you as an os builder when tmosb drops. It will build core os files and completely breaks that chain. uecorebuilder builds and slipstreams the resulting deb into the os from outside the chroot environment, when you chroot into the envirionment for the first time it is no longer a ubuntu playground. You will have to modify the source to make it BBOSAKOS ;) I want you to hound me in its simplicty to make it do exactly what you want it to do, with as little effort on your end. Do not sweat mine I want to ensure your end result.

Love the "ubuntu playground" statement! That smokes! Am seriously looking forward to get one of these Ubuntu's to assemble correctly! Current will be the closest I can do by hand! To say goodbye to all the nightmares of assembly is going to be a dream come true! As have said though, even when these Ubuntu's are off kilter like current with Gnome-shell, I still get 20x more performance than Windows! Still, since I have seen what was done on your side, TheeMahn I have never seen anyone be able to bring an OS up to what I say is 98% effective! I honestly, never thought anyone could bring a system past 96%! Had to rethink that now as have see you do it!!! I know have said it a few times, but will re-iterate "Is history in the making what you're doing!"

Still is a total honor to be part of this forum and to be able to see your brilliance! To me is better than knowing "Albert Einstein" or someone like that! What runs our lives these days???? Computing! We need these computers to accomplish tasks! Who can get them to work better than TheeMahn???? There is no one! Does not exist! I curse our cable company out here for not laying the line and giving service to us! Sure I would probably still be building as to learn, but better believe Ultimate would be on the main computer and not my crazy OS's! Sure they do alright, but is nowhere near beating Ultimate! Is truly awesome to have you on our side in computing! Most developers care less about all of us! You care and that is most that counts!!!!
