Ultimate Edition 4.0

I love to rant and rave ;) This entire section of the forum should be my home, however time is not and has never been on my side. I have completely dumped Ultimate Edition 3.4.2 Lite for Ultimate Edition 4.0. It is my new home for the time being. I would like to point out that I like it so much I have began rebuilding it from the ground up, writing scripts to automate the process. When you remove the chance of human error what remains is perfection. Computers do not make mistakes people do.

I will be uploading this incarnation to the test server sometime next week, I honestly feel it should be a final product. It is really hard to release a Ultimate Edition 4.0 when you have not officially released a Ultimate Edition 3.9. I have uploaded Ultimate Edition 3.7 this weekend to the new mirrored test server in 2 flavors.

1 being, I would like to dub a lite having KDE as the default environment and mate 1.6.0.... There is nothing lite about KDE ;) The Other O/S is a swiss army knife of operating systems. It had so many environments I had to remove at least 5 from the DE (Desktop Environment) selection list, so the end user could click the OK button. It literly ran off screen on my 1900 X 1200 monitor. Openbox related being one of the selections I chose to scrap & a few others. Awesome remained on the list and will run on a PC with 128MB of ram.

More on this later I have things to do here.

I'm running 4.0 as the OS for a system I have built....getting back in to the fold after over 12 months without my computer that the ex said I could have, but decided to keep herself.

Looks good so far...not had much chance to play around, but seems really smooth and stable at this stage.

Great work, Thee

Cheers

Great to hear is so close! Have no doubt will be flawless in no time flat! From fiddling with 3 of these builds have done, will say is a miracle to bring it that far in one shot! Remember folks, not every piece that goes into these systems is absolutely perfect. Flaws in code once in a while as have seen them myself! Takes time to weed these flaws out so can work great! Still can never thank you enough for getting me into this building OS's! Will never be as great as you are at it, but will always keep pushing to get there! Great work and is awesome to see the great results you get all the time! 5 OS's a year folks!!!! Take a look anywhere, you will never see that! This is solid out and out proof how hard TheeMahn works to get things perfect for us! There is no one that works harder or better! Always the best wishes and hope will be privy to more pics and have appreciated all so far!!!

As of right now 4.0 is only available to Donators. Unless TheeMahn moved it over to copy or Sourceforge...

Anything you have seen to this date 2/20/14 on Ultimate Edition 4.0 is NOT a final product (local beta testers are exempt from that statement), however what I built yesterday is a final product, let me retouch on what was initally said, I precieved was a good product, however not perfect. One of the negitive feedbacks was wireless. Let's now get this out in the open, once you "inject" wifi support that distro as far as building is locked into that kernel, dkms and the modules you inset into that kernel pretty much seals the fate of such said O/S as far as building, zero effect for you to upgrade as it is running not chrooted into your system. Sure, I do have the option of going back to the nov '13 build of Ultimate Edition 4.0 and re-working my magic.

The end result of me pressing forward is off the chain as far as end results. I have taken the time to comb though the O/S looking for errors even the most miniscule and have gotten it down to a single hand, 0 of which are detrimental. Minisculity is my now task at hand. I had intended to release Ultimate Edition 3.9 to the public this weekend and 4.0 final to admin / beta testers / donors this weekend. I have hit a fairly major snag and it is not O/S related. We will have to just ride it out, good or bad and for what it is worth. Everything has now went to the back burner. This can be preceived from 2 entirely different perspectives.

  • Yes, it sucks you will have to wait
  • Good things come to those that wait

Is the glass half full, or is it half empty? I hope you fix into #2, ooh I ment fit ;)
