The Battle for 13.04 w/Gnome 3.8 rages on!!!!

Postby BBOSAK2143 » Tue May 07, 2013 8:47 pm

I am a glutton for punishment, stubborn as a mule and just hate giving up! So far I do not see anyone releasing a Ubuntu 13.04 w/Gnome 3.8! We all know at the time 13.04 was released, Gnome 3.8 was not! You bet have been trying to get one together but way too many strikes out right now! Wish there was one of those mini-remix iso's around would sure be helpful! Am starting to take it that the developers of 13.04 just do not want any additions to it! Last one I dl'd updated the kernel and would not boot!!! Is pretty sad on that one! Getting a new one and am in hopes was just a problem with the previous image I dl'd!!! I can not for one minute believe, Ubuntu would ever not allow people to add things to create decent systems, as would put distrowatch out of business! Now Gnome, we all know that is a different story! They never seem to care if and what they work with, these days! Seems that reigns supreme since Gnome 2. Their heads just swelled when they went to 3 since it became a nice looking desktop. Not that 2 was ugly by no means, just 3 became nicer looking! Unlike Gnome 3.6, so far all attempts to find their image turns up nothing! I am getting to think, they did not create one this time! Is a shame as I would love to know what I am getting into? Oh well, at points I just seem to be on the loosing end! Hoping this one downloading now will take the repo's, so I could then add my script and let it assemble! Last one was taking them here and there, but as far as responding to installs was not good! As stated, am hoping was just a bad download! If not, I guess I will have to can this idea!!!! I will not feel real bad as so far no one else seems to be in this game!!! Still, I would love to get a good one going and assembled to use! Previously, I did get a little taste of what Gnome 3.8 can do, seems is a bit faster with some actions! Some of those am craving and will just have to put the pretty looks aside to make sure all this will happen! Besides, one am running is doing decent works on desktop and laptop with minimal hassles. Also seems like 3.8 and Cinnamon are no longer friends!!!! I mean, with 3.6 they were not bosom buddies, but now seems like they are mortal enemies!!!! Will miss that point, even though to be honest I hardly use Cinnamon desktop! Just not spread out enough for me!!! Basically all Cinnamon did for me was help make windows look nicer in Gnome Classic! Anyway, just kind of curious if anyone else is mess with this Raring beast????

3.8 on 13.04??? I just got a hold of the image! Looking lot better than did! Last time had to put a synaptic.deb in there to get it to use synaptic!!!! This time opened no hassle. Going to add the repos to it tomorrow, head to school for a few things work on it a few hours and see what happens!!! Might be alright, just work through synaptic install, build and if it is nice, will put up on the web soon! Let me know on the above! Having a time keeping track of all these posts. Should have tossed that other image after first shot! Am a stubborn fool sometimes!!!!
