12.10 TO 13.04 upgrade NOT!

Postby BBOSAK2143 » Sun Apr 28, 2013 5:35 pm

Went through this one yesterday, thought maybe something good would come from it! Nope, took hours on end and next thing I knew nothing could be done to get it working again! So I updated to a black screen, which is not a good one!!! I guess I should not have taken the risk, but I am a sucker for these things will admit! Least is on the Laptop so should not take real long to reload, in fact is close just having trouble not getting the splash screen back! Plymouth, cool car but far as splash screens seem wishy washy here and there! Switched to the 3.8.1 kernel for the laptop along with the 13.4 amd catalyst. Boots fine but no more splash. Apparently Super Boot Manger retired cause has no effect on it!!!! Just a word to the wise as do not want to see others update to nothing. So if you take advantage of the 13.04 upgrade you might just wind up reloading!!!! Took a half a day to load it up and booted to nothing! So just beware of that fact!!!!

13.04 seems to be nice if you start from scratch. I do have to say that SBM is working on 13.04, I am using it to set the default kernel.

People say that Ubuntu Art Themes are created exclusively by people who have stared into the sun for several hours a day over the course of many weeks.

And now, the completely true facts, as told by an anonymous man hiding behind a screen name:
