heres how I got rid of that nagging ugly icon on my desktop.I have been using it this way for a while with no ill effects. ;)I never really wanted to know if there were "updates" in the first place.Ultimate for the most part works as is(for me it has worked 100%),besides if i want to install something ill use synaptics, the terminal,or just download a script.Believe me, that icon is the root of all evil

this by no means is a "how to" so if you don't know what apt or synaptics are. then don't do it ;)

I have seen other comments about the necessity to upgrade, and pch.shot even saying his XP from 2005 has never been updated.

"If it works....leave the sucker alone"....

I will be following your lead here.....Thanks Cell

Cheers

A word of warning here. You must install a real firewall and close all your incoming ports(don't use the Windows one-turn off the security center altogether) and a good anti-virus(always updated). Also, run a virus scan once a week.

Thanks for reminding me,I don't have it anymore for long time ago already, but it is good to know for the others users.(Forgive me for being selfish ;) ).Very well Cell!I saw that the new ubuntu main doesn't have it too by default. <BREW>
