What did the update change? I haven't gotten any updates that have changed anything drastically.
And as far as Google and Firefox's relationship, there isn't really anything out of the norm there. Firefox is an open source project that collects a sum of money from Google by including the search bar. Google in turn generates revenue by firefox users using their search engine. It's mutual and they both benefit and the code is open source.
The fact that you are complaining about the autocomplete feature is pretty absurd. Many programs have this feature and it has been around a long time. Some people like it, others don't. If you don't, then turn it off.
Iceweasel is the firefox browser with all extra stuff stripped from it. That seems what you are looking for. Or you can switch to IE with Yahoo Toolbar
