Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.0

e17

Postby jnalli » Tue Apr 21, 2009 10:07 pm

Will someone please help me install e17? I tried everything that was suggested to me on this forum from Nick and others and nothing has worked. Even tried compiling from source. Does anyone have any ideas? Are the repos for e17 dead? is e17 not supported anymore?

This is what I get.

joshua@joshua-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install cvs
[sudo] password for joshua:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
cvs is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 7 not upgraded.
joshua@joshua-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install e17-svn
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
e17-svn: Depends: libtag1-dev but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libtagc0-dev but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

ok...have you tried fixing the broken packages by opening Synaptic, then under Edit, click on "Fix Broken Packages" ??

If these pkgs are listed in Synaptic: libtag1-dev & libtagc0-dev, then try installing them (one at the time)...

Sorry to be such a pain.. but tried that too... it keeps saying that something else needs to be installed first and if i install that it says there are other dependencies... it's like a loop... nothing works...

Pardner, I'm gonna be honest with ya...IMHO, anything that aggrevating to install isn't worth it...I've looked at what they call a forum and I don't even see one for installation problems over there....even still, they're the guys that developed it, they should be the ones with all the answers...I personally haven't ever tried it, and from the experience you're having, it just made my "I won't ever go there" list...however, and this is a big if, I believe stanca uses it and he might be your best bet in getting you thru the install...

I really don't mean to let you down or anything, but I'm at a loss of why it's being so hard to install...anyway, maybe someone that is using it, or has tried it will come along and help you thru this...Good Luck!!
