Hello all,
I am fairly new to all this Linux stuff, not a complete nub but even though I know a couple of things I guess I can be very dangerous. I have no clue as to what I did but some how I have managed to bork up the su logins. Something has happened to my permissions. When ever I try to access anything dealing with system configs I either get an immediate error message saying that I do not have permissions to access that application, for example the user and groups utility. When I try to use the package manager I am presented with the usual su long in window, but when I type in my password it will not accept it.
I do not want to do a reinstall unless I really have to, are there any config files that I can edit to correct the problem? If so I can use a Mepis live cd that I have as it allows me to log onto the live session as root so I would be able to make the necessary changes and save the config files.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert
