If you use Opera ubuntu-restricted-extras is all you need with 2.1.

And that is part of what makes Linux and a good community special. After all of that, I will download 2.1 tonight and install tomorrow. Only had 2.0 for a few weeks, but I saw the screen-shots and cannot resist. LOL.

im in the process of updating to 2.1 as we speak, however i have noticed that since the upgrade i have not been able to play any kind of video whatsoever. i have installed all codecs, repos, flash players and removed them to reinstall etc etc...still i have no way of accessing vids. i had to do a fresh install with 2.0 as my disk blew and i was able to watch videos then. :? thanks

Talk to the boss. When I tested 2.1, Ubuntu-restricted-extras worked and when I used the official release it did not anymore. Somebody "tweaked it" to suit Firefox I would imagine!!!!

Try adobe-flashplugin from synaptic pakketmanager
it works for me
If you use 64bit you have to
Yeah you'll have to manually remove the old 32bit flash, and install the 64bit one from adobe manually.

64bit flash with 64bit firefox works great for me.

other comment
Uninstall any flash you have. Go to adobe http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and download the tar.gz for linux.
Extract the archive. In the ~/.mozilla folder create a folder called plugins.
Copy the libflashplayer.so file from your desktop to this new folder. Restart FF.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't use firefox. A simpler way is to log in as root and cut and paste the .so file into the plugins folder(/usr/lib) of your web browser(I use Opera Beta 10).
