Hi Nick, thanx for your help. I followed the steps you posted but still no wireless connexion. Could it be I may need to install madwifi or perhaps blacklist some other items? The output from the last instruction on your post was; -

I don't know much about wireless, but have you gone to Menu>System>Preferences>Network Configuration...then wireless to make sure it is enabled???

Hi deate, thanx for keeping it simple. Sometimes when things get overwhelming I can forget about the basic stuff and look for a more 'complicated' solution!! <BREW> My wifi is now up and running after reviewing my settings in WICD. Thanx again - have a good weekend! :D

i'm relatively new on linux but i solved this problem for me like this.
I used ndiswrapper with this driver http://users.telenet.be/stefsite/DriverAR5007win.tar.gz
and it works fine for me no troubles.

Are you using the x32 version? If so then this will do for you all that have the x32. I have not been able to get it to work in the x64 version, and the stated fix above is what finally did it for me.

This may be an extremly dumb question. But since under a x64 system we can use ndiswrapper to run 32bit browser plugins (flash comes to mind). Could we maybe use it to also run x86 drivers in a x64 system? Has anyone ever thought about or even attempted this? I realize plugins and drivers are two totally different beasts and it would prob nvr work but its just something i was wondering.
