I am having the same problem. I have no sound what so ever when running ultimate edition (not even the static sound from having the volume all the way up). I have a dell mini 9 which came with Ubuntu 8.04, and the sound works just fine when i boot up Dell's version. Unfortunately dells version sucks in comparison and ultimate edition is the coolest version of an os i have ever witnessed. is there a way i can pull the drivers off of my other partition?

Thanks, I would like to also take the time to post I recently worked on a buddys computer everything was recognised including his audigy after pissing around with it found out why his sound did not work by default it uses digital out. As soon as I unchecked the box it damn near blew my ear drums. Double click the speaker icon, goto switches tab and uncheck digital output. Make sure you have the sound level down ;)

The only problem I had was playing flash sound...thankfully.

If you have a similar problem that link should fix it, simply install and restart your browser.

Adobe has a .deb now that works fine with Ultimate. You may also want to add Medibuntu to your list of repositories as well(just in case you don't already know).

If you are having sound issues look here and adjust the settings. Hit the test buttons till you get something you like.

I noticed following my install that ALSA didn't work at all. I had to change my sound options to OSS and then killall pulse audio then

Code: Select all
sudo force alsa-reload

from then on it has worked fine. Also I had to install flash audio support, beyond that everythings FAR EXCEEDED my expectations I love Ultimate Edition 2.0.
