So what about the connection ID and Password from my ISP? If it doesn't go into Network Manager, then where is it supposed to be put in? Somewhere inside the Modem maybe?
And what about accessing the Modem? Can you access a Modem without a Router?
I'm not sure what it does exactly, but in my house if I don't send my internet line through a Router, I can't get any connection.

now the question is if you have install the DHCP client?
What exactly is a DHCP Client and how do I check if it is installed?

Or maybe even one of those USB to Ethernet conversion cables to convert one of your USB ports into another Ethernet port... just thinking outside the box here.
Not a clue what that means in real terms, but if it gets me online I'm all for it? Where can I find instructions?
I'll get Java and Flash installed today and see if that helps me along.
...Back to the office now. I think I'll bring the computer home tonight just to see if it can connect in the house...
Thanks again folk for all the help.
