K3b never gave me the first run wizard... all burns are bad.

Postby brjoon1021 » Fri Nov 21, 2008 10:49 am

Hi,

This is the first time that I have ever used K3b where I did not have a first run wizard the upon the first launch of the application. The purpose of the wizard in K3b's case is to configure it as a superuser because it will burn better as a higher user than just a "user". Well, I think I must be stuck in the user mode (never got the wizard to configure as root or superuser) because every burn is screwed up with errors - burning iso's, the checksums fail every time so far using different media. I used synaptic to completely uninstall K3b with the config files. Now what ? I want it by the way, I like it better than any of the other options and I use KDE as default. All of these bad burns are while using KDE.

I will try that. Why would/could/should that make a difference, though ? Just asking.

Thanks.

I guess that I am wondering if KDE apps will run well from the multi-desktop distros like 1.9 ? Should all of the KDE apps be opened as a superuser ? Does it depend which desktop, Gnome or KDE that is being used ? How about the opposite situation ? Would Brasero run optimally from if I am logged into KDE or should it be opened as a superuser if in KDE ????
