Low framerate issue in WoW

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.9

Low framerate issue in WoW

Postby Phubar » Thu Nov 06, 2008 1:07 am

This may be posted in the wrong area, if so I apologize. I just downloaded and installed Ultimate Edition 1.9. I got my driver to install after a short battle with EnvyNG. I moved on to configure my addiction World of Warcraft. I have searched the web for hours trying suggestions all over the place and arrived promptly nowhere.

I have a NVIDIA 9800 GTX and it is only running about 25-30 FPS in WoW regardless of the video settings. I have modified the WINE registry as suggested and made all the recommended changes to my WoW config file.

I ran that little gnome gears things and got an average of 2800FPS yet in WoW I only get 27 most of the time.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :ugeek:

Thanks,
Phubar

Low framerate issue in WoW

The #1 thing you can do to improve your FPS, is to completely disable Compiz.
I think if you run glxgears with compiz disabled you will see a big difference.

After that, look at your driver again.
I run a nvidia 8400 and see ~3200 fps with glxgears, so yours should be even higher.

If you run dual monitors you will see a drastic hit in performance and fps as well.

Last but not least Wine:
They call it wine for a reason, it makes your computer act like it's drunk.
You might get better results running XP in viritualbox.
If you must run wine, make sure you are running the latest version and make sure it's configured properly.
Here are 2 good sites for configuring wine
