I would apreciate any suggestion please. I don't know if I did something wrong. I still can install applications manually with gdebi installer. The problem persists in update manager, synaptic manager.add/remove programs and in terminal.

I saw this problem first at the daily updates received through the notification.(Please excuse my agramatical, simple and limited English. I never took any lessons or courses of. I am just a humble "peasant" from somewhere in Europe.).

I googled your error and came up with this from linuxquestions.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/debian-26/sub-process-usrbindpkg-returned-an-error-code-1-171107/
After you get that error, try apt-get -f install to force an install of the files that didn't get loaded because of the error. Then try apt-get upgrade again, apt-get -f install back and forth until only the package that has the error is left.

You may need to use sudo before all of those commands.

I tried many times and it didn't work for me. Still same problem unchanged. I even don't know what caused it. Could be some mess around in software sources,third-party software? I just added few days ago this:http://repoubuntusoftware.info harty all.

If you think it might be related to your repo list try the following commands
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update

this will look at your repo list and tell you if you have any errors.
if you need to run it again, it will tell you.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get upgrade

this will get you the newest version of apt
It might be a good idea to run "sudo apt-get update" after you do the upgrade.

Thanks anyway LeadFingers but still nothing. Doesn't bother me too much,I still can install anything by hand and in rest my beautyfull Ultimate Edition seems to work smoothly perfect. Soon with the new UE2.0 this thing will be passed.
