Postby skyviannes » Wed Sep 24, 2008 5:00 pm

Anyone figure out a way that WoW can be run on U E 1.9? I've yet to find any way that it works. The current version of wine has some issues. The only thing i have found so far is that it will run if i don't have a video driver enabled.

Specs

OS - Ultimate Edition 1.9
CPU - 1.9ghz Duel core AMD
RAM - 4GB
Video - nvidia 8400m

Have you been through the WineHQ site? I'm sure you have, but in case you haven't...
Wine HQ

Its very important to install their repo to the list as Nick says. Ubuntu doesn't keep up on the latest Wine as they should.

i have been to winehq and read all of the info i could find there, i have also tried the stable 1.0.0 wine version, as well as 1.1.3 - 1.1.5. and as i stated in my first post. I don't have an issue installing wine, or installing wow, or installing my video drivers. I'm not new to linux, just trying to see if someone knows something i don't. My issue, to restate, is that if i have the current nvidia drivers enabled, WoW will not run. It starts loading and errors out. Not trying to sound rude, but if anyone knows anything more relevant to that issue, i'd be very appreciative and interested.

For old guys like me, Frozen Bubble is about all we can handle. My young cousins love WOW but it's just too hard for me.

That all seems very complicated to me. All I do is copy the World of Warcraft installation folder from any existing windows machine straight into the .wine > C: > Program Files folder and hit the launcher. Works everytime. : ]
