I can't remember if Wine is pre-installed on 1.9. If it is, it should appear in your start menu. If not just go to Synaptic and install it from there. It will place a mock C drive in your home folder. To see it click view and check Show Hidden Files. When you have done that post back. I think I did a mini walk through on your Nova Scotia post but of course I can't remember(It's not much fun getting old, sometimes). :)

ALT+F2->winecfg->Run
Does it shields out something?
Even if it's installed, which I think it is on 1.9, it must be ran once before you can use it or install windows programs with it, you can accept all the default settings for now.
I'm not sure if I remember right, but wasn't you who wanted to play poker online? If it's you then you may want to have a look at this one:

It's an extension for Firefox

Hi again guys, I went into my home folder and could not find any indication that I had wine installed, found google earth, and virtualbox, but no wine, so I installed it from synaptic, but still don't see it. I only installed wine, should I also install wine-dev, wine-doors, and winefish. Getting old isn't so bad, It's a great excuse for being stupid.

hi again, what is it exactly that I am looking for. I don't see anything that says wine or c: drive except under Applications, Wine. This is where I see "Browse C: drive", and when I click on it nothing happens.

Hi pch, I now have wine working and have installed Firefox for windows and viewpoint. I'm amazed that I got this far. When I went to "Vital Statistics Nova Scotia" I tried to view the page I was concerned with, I got only a partial page (the bottom 4 lines) the rest of the page wouldn't download. At least I did better than nothing but still not good enough.
