Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.8

Hi all, Newbie question for you:

After installing 1.8 x64 on xfs file system, grub fails to install. I expected that anyway, but how do I install Lilo? I have tried and tried to find it, but just can't.

Absolutely excellent OS. The only thing I changed is the cursor. I like it, but find it a bit too big for copying and pasting text in particular.

Hope someone knows how to get around my Lilo problem. Thanks in advance.
Mark

Howdy Mark & Welcome to Ultimate Edition!! Don't know much about Lilo myself, however, I did look it up and it is in the Synaptic Package Manager...you can install it from there...hope this helps cuz I don't have a clue (being unfamiliar with Lilo) how else you would install it... someone else may drop in and know how to from the Ultimate Edition installation process... :D 8-)

Edit: :o I just remembered that there is an option in SuperGrub (LiveCD) to install Lilo also ... :)

yes you can install it via synaptic etc, but will not replace grub w/o invoking a command, I have used lilo to build a bootable USB Persistant Ultimate Edition 1.8, but can not remember the command perhaps a browse of FAQ or howto section of this forum will help you find the command, you will have to point to to your current "grub" disk to overwrite it.

Thank you both for the fast response. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1056&p=10292 seems to be what I need.
I came up with a temporary fix by making a separate /boot partition of reiserfs and / of xfs, so will try that next install.
Thanks again.
Mark.

Glad to help in the rare case "I can", not that I do not know, just not the time. I also would like to thank SaddleTramp, for taking the time to find the post.

Welcome aboard Mark in case I have not told you. Sorry I am hammered, both ways ;)
