Well there is a setting on the forum but it's set in the server side not from the ACP menu. you can set the time for the cookie. ie 3600 would be 60 min. I assume it could be set for 0 or something but I need to touch base with Thee on this.
Some things he modified for the sake of security so I obviously have to run this past him. You can control how people log in based on IP, or login name for example. This is not a firefox issue or nix in general. It is controlled by the server running the PHP3 software. I have auto logins for some sites I frequent on Nix and windows that work just fine. As you all know time is a precious commodity for him but I promise I will telephone him and work on this with him soon as possible.

Hi, I guess this isn't a new problem, but has anyone found a solution to this yet?

Its only happening with phpbb3 forums, I found other few phpbb3 forums have this issue too.
Seems some server based issue which needs to be taken care of.

When a fix for this is discovered, Is it likely to be posted here? Or come out in an update?

The current "patches" to make it work in phpbb3 also leave some things insecure. I've talked to the man on this and we are hopefull they will release a fix soon that doesnt leave you open for trouble.

Thanks.

I'll just keep checking back here to see if a fix is posted. Meanwhile, bookmarking the site seems to work well enough. I'm not sure if that's the same as setting it as your home page (i.e. the time out issue), but it's simple enough to re-bookmark it.

This seems like an odd problem to continue to have. It's like a dead bug on the windshield of a Roles Royce. It doesn't really mess anything up, but come on...we're suppose to be better than that.

As I said, it doesn't cause any REAL problem at all. Just that even some of the crappiest forums I've seen have that feature working fine. Like a waiter who forgets to put the Salt and Pepper on the table, a beautiful girl that can't balance well in high heels, a cold salad served on a warm plate, an English Teacher with sloppy handwriting, a painting displayed in the wrong lighting, a counselor who yawns while your talking to them, ...need I go on. Having such a basic malfunction in such a great forum, (which of course, is so directly associated with such an @$$ kicking OS) just takes off a bit of the shine...

Well, your not alone in thinking that. We've had plenty of people come through and be bugged by the same thing. I myself have mentioned it and done the research to cure the problem, I have submitted "the cure" in the form of the latest updates and work-arounds - only to find out that it left holes in security. That reason alone was the deciding factor. The second factor is that this is TheeMahns forum, and he is only one man. I would not bug him with trying to make a flashier forum, when what people are really after here is the software/ OS ... not the forum. Sorry to disappoint.
