Recently in the last week and can't pinpoint the exact update, the only 2 icons I had on the desktop vanished on reboot! Apparently what had happened was a few of the settings in Cinnamon desktop were changed, basically the two check marks for those icons were not there! So if anyone has experienced the loss of desktop icons please just go into your Cinnamon settings and put the check marks back in and they will be back on the desktop! Younger people will probably find it humorous that us older folks love seeing those stupid little icons on the desktop!!!! Well, I mostly use places in Gnome to move through the file system, but just got to damned used to seeing them things on the desktop when I boot up! Guess is a major Windoze flaw I bring with me to Linux!!! Just hope this helps folks here, cause as I will say a thousand times over or until I die, Ultimate is the best!!!! Always will give my best wishes and thanks to these developers for understanding what people require and desire to get their computing needs filled! Believe me I take a look at many distributions on Virtualbox and the functionality of those operating systems never compare! Have to also mention, so far I have yet to see another Linux distribution that gives a choice of what updates to accept or even a description!!!!! All these other distributions just give you the choice to accept or not!!!! I guess sometimes is the little stuff combined with larger things that just seal the deal of enjoying an OS so much! Thanks ever so much and I constantly look for upcoming distributions and enjoy reading advice from folks that actually care about their users!!!!!!!
