My .iso burn is at 42% and I'm not ashamed to admit...

I'M GIDDY AS A SCHOOLGIRL TO GET HOME AND BOOT/INSTALL!!!

Purely out of curiousity, is there a LiveCD/DVD option on this? Doesn't matter either way, but if I know there's not, I'll just rip out the existing drive cage straight away and not waste time looking for a "Live" run first saving me who KNOWS how many seconds... yes... precious seconds... until i'm boooooting it!!! Booting it... Yesss... Yessssss my precioussssss....
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am...

If it's not broken, you haven't tweaked it enough.

Apropos of nothing in particular, every time I hear or see the word "amok", I think of Sarah Jessica Parker basically doing the pogo and chanting "Amok, amok, amok...." in the movie Hocus Pocus. I don't know why.

Yes there is a live option, I did remove disk checks, why it will fail due to md5sum and claim 1 file is corrupt, funny I know how to do that, could not have done so a few months ago... I too always am learning. Despite popular opinion I don't know everything.

I would like you opinion on it, Cab said and I quote:
Maybe the Mahn is seeing if we're all awake ?? we'll so far I cant break this version either! when the man said its stable it truley is.

I know Cab personally served with him in the Navy 2 of the 4 years I served., he is also "rough" on a computer, that is quite an endorsement coming from him. I would like your opinion...

After running the livecd, installing, gparted, rearrange partitions, installing, gparted, rearranging partitions, anyway...finally got it like I won't it (partitions), installed, now I'm tweakin' my ($) off (going by your guide, of course!!). THEE...if it gets any better, i don't know if i can stand it !! Absolutely, without a doubt, THE GREATEST!! If Hardy Ultimate can match this (which I don't have any doubt with you behind it), it'll be the last OS I'll install. With both on here I'll be in my own little world where ALL is good!! UNLESS!!! you come out with something better  That would definitely be a mindbender!!

Outstanding job ! Your work and product and greatly appreciated !

Thanks

Word of warning
The tweaking guide was written for Feisty.
Some of the tweaks may give you cause for panic !
If you must use the tweaks, go slow & reboot often. (to know if something borks your system)
If you write down what you tweak it's easier to fix it later.

Thanks Lead, But uhhh....too late  Just went back & read that 1st paragraph under the "How to" and figure I must have mis-read it the first time. Was going real good tho'. Got thru the 1st 2 parts, Services & B.U.M., rebooting after each. Then somewhere between 'File Systems' and the end is where it got me  Ended up with an HAL error. Well, live & learn, Right ?!? All in all still worked out. I know a little more about Linux now !! Reloaded the backup and good to go again. I really like the Bootchart tho'. Looks like another useful troubleshooting aid.

Sorry I should have included info on the HAL error (it's a known problem)

Followed the tweaking guide now HAL won't start.
Here's how bpollen fixed it
Code: Select all
sudo gedit /etc/init.d/rc

Change "CONCURRENCY=shell" to "CONCURRENCY=none"

Save the file and reboot.

How TheeMahn fixed it
Code: Select all
sudo /usr/sbin/hald --daemon=yes

2nd Box: XP (dusty)
3rd Box: Stable Media box Ultimate Edition 1.8 x64 with XBMC

NP Lead, like I said, live & learn :) Thanks for the fixes. Yep, you know I'm gonna try it again now  Y'all wouldn't believe how much I'm getting back into this. Use to have a blast working MSDOS. Will let y'all know how the tweaks work out again. Appreciate the help Lead. Y'all take care and I'll catch ya later.
