Torrent for Ultimate Edition 3.4?

Postby abhishekvk » Sun Jul 08, 2012 5:06 am

I am using Ultimate Edition 2.7 x64 for past 2 years. I love the OS because it provides lots of options and proprietary stuff out of box. I am planning to upgrade to Ultimate Edition 3.4 because my ASUS USB Wireless card is not working on 2.7. It works with Ubuntu 12.04 x64.

I live in India where power and internet connection are not reliable. So I want to download using torrent so that even if download stops it can resume again instead of downloading from start. But I do not find any torrent on Ultimate Edition site. There is one torrent on linuxtracker but the file size is smaller at 3.01 GB (vs 3.2 GB on sourceforge). So I am doubting if it is a good file. Is there any good torrent available for Ultimate Edition 3.4 x64?

Thanks,
Abhishek

I finally downloaded Ultimate Edition 3.4 x64 through the linuxtracker torrent. The file size is still 3GB on my system (and not the expected 3.2GB). Anyway I decided to check through a USB live boot. So I made a bootable USB stick through USB Universal installer. On selecting the live system boot option I got an error that file "/casper/initrd.gz" is not found. After searching through all cfg files I found that syslinux.cfg was wrongly pointing to initrd.gz. So I changed the cfg file to point to "/casper/initrd.lz" and after that the USB live boot worked.

Not sure if the problem is with USB installer or with UE3.4 image. But I am still worried about the file size though. Am I having some wrong file? Atleast Conky shows "Ultimate Edition 3.4 - 3.2.0-24-generic 64bit".

Apart from these two issues the OS works fine. I will just wait for someone to confirm that there is no problem with the image I downloaded. After that I will put Ultimate Edition 3.4 on to my Hard disk.

Sorry for being too much sensitive about such small issues.

Thanks,
Abhishek
