I am trying to disable gnome screensaver and activate xscreensaver, as well as prevent the screen from locking, ever. I’ve followed some instructions in the internet that show how to remove gnome screensaver and install xscreensaver and add it into the startup applications. Simple. Right? No. I’ve done so and for some reason whenever I select screensaver from the menu it gives me xscreensaver as supposed to but it says the demon is not running. but it is running.. Furthermore the check from the "lock after" certain amount of time is removed yet it still freaking locks after like 2 minutes. I tried caffeine with banshee but even caffeine doesn’t work...

I’m using MATE on Ultimate Edition 3.5.2
