Newbie here...

Postby ahchewy » Sat May 22, 2010 7:33 pm

I just got the Ultimate Edition 2.6 and have been trying to get my sound to work, but no luck.
I have Delta Audiophile 2496 soundcard which uses the ice1712 envy24, which I did get the envy controller.
320gig Sata Drive
I cannot locate the card anywhere in the system. Under "sound pref" it only shows the ice958 only...When I open up jack and go to connect, the only connection that I have under audio is system, out or in ports......
What am I doing wrong ? :?: :?
Thank you
Mike

Hello ahchewy .

You issue is under bugs fix - Alsa part bug fix.
But - from my point of view Is you use the working together Mixers Alsa+Pulse Audio,
Then it will work under the Device Chooser under Alsa as the Default Device (Mixer).
Look for the ("Mixer") in the search option of the Forum for the How To make them work on your Desktop.

Well, I went searching for "mixer" and most of the information that I found was for uBuntu
. "When you are ready to follow this guide, this is all you need to know:
Hardy users: Follow Part A & B.
Intrepid users: Follow Part A & C."

I do not have a Device Chooser in any of my drop down menus...When I try to access the "default Sound card" under control center or from the down down, I just get a clock and then goes away... :?

I am kinda new but I couldn't figure out which one I was to use. I was able to go into the term ( Konsole ) and find my sound card, but on the drop down menu I could not find the PCM control or anything else... Maybe I should re-install Ultimate Edition and see if that may fix something.. :?

Sorry to be such a pain...

Hi ahchewy,

You're not being a pain at all. The standard sound controls are in
System > Preferences > Sound
On the Hardware tab you can try different Profiles at the bottom. Be sure to have something playing like music and have the volume up to where you'll know when it starts working. For example mine wont work at all if it's set to digital, it has to be set to analog. Now if you've tried all of the settings there you can add more controls and some nice features as well in this guide.

PulseAudio Fixes & System-Wide Equalizer Support

You may also find an answer in this guide, since I don't see anything about the make and model of your machine I can't say for sure.
How to fix broken sound when Ubuntu is installed.

If these don't help please let us know just what machine you have and it may help us to find an answer that is specific to that make and model since many don't know what sound card it is like you do they only provide the basic info. if that.
