i have a neargear DGFv338 router that im using as well as firestarter.

What i would like to do is get Vuze working correctly. Im getting fire walled by Firestarter i think but im not sure how to get firestarter to let vuze through it. I am pretty sure the netgear is set right just cant understand firestarter setup to well.

I am not familiar with firestarter, but Google says that it is a bit torrent client. I would try looking under one of the options tab and select the -- port forwarding-- option if available also, ensure that this port has rules set for your particular client, on both hardware and software client. These may be able to get you started.

Hope this gives you a start in the right direction.

Firestarter is the bundled Firewall that comes with the Ultimate 2.0 installation, I think you meant VUZE. If I was the poster, i'd use uTorrent through WINE not only is it a very effective bittorrent client but it's much easier to manage permissions with it that with vuze.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
