i broke something & what did i do?? solved

hello again to all ,you people are one of the friendlest group that i visit on a regular basis.
anyway,here's my problem.
last night i was trying to connect to my bedroom machine, I knew i should be able to (i could threw windows)
so i was messing around in the place tab. trying network(could'nt see the machine) then i stumbeled apon
connect to server. the window opened and i basicly followed the windows share(put in the name of comp & such...) and low and behold a mounted simbol showed up on my desktop !! whoo hoo , i could see all the files i was looking for and was able to transfer info back & forth. felt good about it & shut dowm my laptop and went to bed.
now this morning i wake up & start my day by checking thinks online & when i start my laptop my desktop is gone!! that the --- did i do ??? look in the error logs but dont see much ?? I'm going to try & upload a screenshot. how do you folks attach the terminal??anyway heres what i see but dont see much, just somthing about not finding fonts, I think.

anyway all seems to work fine, i can still get everywhere and do everything. all is working except i cant see my desktop?? so to end this , point me in the right direction please,again.

A few things I would look at:

verify visuals & user folders are check in sessions.

how are you doing,whats new in the new versions!!hows the the weather in cal??
sorry about that, I was excited that the creator answered me!! Ha,Ha
anyway checked in sessions,nothing unchecked visuals lokks fine and user folders has no comment but the
command looks normal(compared to another Ultimate Edition) so anything else??
sorry that when you saw my post that i was editing it. if you look now you'll see that my desktop in blank.
top and bottom bars are there but nothing else. if i try to right click on & bring up properties ,nothing,nada.
but i can get to all threw system,ect.. or my desktop threw places,ect... so I have a work aroud .
anyway nice to hear from you & hopefully all is doing well!!

That is a sweet wallpaper! Do you mind uploading it? I love the black! .... just f'n with ya! That doesn't look to friendly. Have you killed nautilus by accident? This looks like the culprit to me. I'm not sure if you can start it back up in sessions or not. Have you tried terminal of: <sudo apt-get ubuntu desktop>? I saw this in a forum somewhere, but have never had to use it.

I knew that if i messed around long enough I'd eather fix it or break it,and low and behold it fixed!!
whoo whoo thanks daddy! your graet for the advice. it had somthing to do with nautlius??
and did lots of commands with it and learned more. had some strange errors,wish i could reperduce
but all in all, everythig is fine and running again.is there somewhere that would tell me what i did and how i fixed it??" i know what command i used but I mean in the bacground??what happened.
thanks again to all & if i can give in anyway just let me know,I've got lots of bandwith i dont use most the time(im at work). just offering!!

Funny you say that, have a view here. It will be every users homepage of Ultimate Edition 1.8 integrated into the distro. Quoted from that page:

I will have to bounce back on your problem, it will have to be fixed today. I will be screwed starting tomorrow. No more answers from TheeMahn until 1.8 goes final. Sorry didn't read through to see daddy was on the ball. We have great admin / mods here. Daddy has more posts then me and I own the board. Now that I look at it I should have seen the solved and skipped it altogether.
