Sled/uslab

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.7

Sled/uslab

Postby vinca » Wed Mar 26, 2008 12:21 pm

Hey!

I've been trying to install the Slab/Sled menu in 1.7 for a while now... never seems to work. Just wondering if anyone here got it working and how... cuz i'm stumped... ;)

Also, a little off topic, but all the windows users  in my house are snickering to me about using **LINUX**, so this is kind of important...

When my RAID card comes from newegg, they want to install windows on my computer and format the linux partition, but if linux will install flawlessly with RAID, I think they will leave it there and spare me of the horrors of vista. so, just wondering, I've heard the easiest way to make a raid array is with the alternate ubuntu 7.10 Cd, so if I get that, configure software raid, reboot, and pop in the 1.7 DVD will it recognise that config in the install wizard, or do i have to make the software raid some other way?

Thanks!

Just wait till those Windows users have to use your Nix to remove a virus!!
Have a look at the post:the exact reason why I switched
I just removed a virus that set itself up as user to log onto my Windows box(that's using updated A/V Spybot and a firewall. I was considering using a giant Kumodo Dragon in Cyberspace to protect it). Thank god I had Spybot updated or I would have been toast. Wish I could help you, but alas I know didly about raid. Once you figure it out, you can rub it in every hater's nose. pch

Have you looked at TheeMahns How-To section for your answer? I would check that out and post back if you have any problems. ;)

I'm sorry, I have no idea about slab/sled menus. As for installing to a raid - I'm not quite sure. I have a raid 0 in ext3 right now, but it is only for storage and backup  One of these days I'll take the leap! I'm missing out on the advantages! I used to run raid 0 on winblows and really liked it. Sorry I can't be much more help!

Slab has changed its name in a terminal my repo enabled library file will come from my repo:

Please note I am running Ultimate Edition 1.7 X64, but should work across the board, with any Ultimate Edition.

To get it working...
Right click panel add to panel select main menu not the one with ubuntu icon as screenshot shows.

As for raid ask and ye shall receive post the exact problem you are having. You do not want to use a hardware raid, you will find softraid or "fake raid" to be much faster, if it is booting from a device it will have to be ext3 unless you want to use lilo.
