Good!
Your best hope is...
Reconfigure xorg (follow the long post)
once at your desktop make sure you're hooked up to the net,
Hit the upgrade Icon
This will take you 2-4 hours
upgrade had a tenancy to hide windows waiting on a response from you,
so from time to time move the window around to make sure one window isn't hiding another.
after the upgrade is complete, try envy again.

This is the way Cab got his 8800GT installed
1st Box: Ultimate Edition 2.0 x64/ 1.8 x64
2nd Box: XP (dusty)
3rd Box: Stable Media box Ultimate Edition 1.8 x64 with XBMC

Ok you've done the 1st part, you reconfigured xorg
you are now using legacy drivers,
until you install the nvidia drivers you will have NO glx (video acceleration)
Now try the rest of the steps
Hit the upgrade Icon
This will take you 2-4 hours

i may be mistaken but...a while back was hearing how envy should be downloaded directly from its respective website instead of getting it through the repos. not doing so would cause problems. this of course was all word of mouth and i could be completely wrong. anybody know if this could possibly have anything to do with envy not detecting his card? its just an idea. i know nothing about nvidia as ive never used one and almost nothing about envy.

This was and still is the case drama. Basically, this is said because of a "who knows if this is the lates version of the driver". If the repo is not up to date then neither is the driver. I used to have problems with envy back prior to 1.6. I never trusted it and it never really worked for me. However, as of late - envy works great for me :D But, none the less - allways a good idea to get it from the nvidia site.

Unless alberto has updated Envy in the last 2 days, the 1.7 default install of envy is the latest.
At least it was on my disc.

See if "Nvidia settings" is installed, under applications/System tools.
if it is, open it and it will tell you about your nvidia card & how it is set up.
If you have Nvidia setting installed, you have nvidia drivers installed. :D
