Well.... HONESTLY I AM NOT trying to blow up your spot or get a NOD from you here, but I have found Ultimate Edition to be the best friggin OS out there and I just hope and want everyone to have the INCREDIBLE experience with it that I do. I had some pals who tried to nudge me into the LINUX world for quite a few years and I wasn't comfortable with the idea... Then I was introduced to UBUNTU via Live disk (aka NO RISK) and enjoyed it.... A little bit annoying and.... uhm... Well I turned a couple of computers into door stops ( THANK GOODNESS a pal of mine is quite good with Computers and pulled them out of the depths of gravedom!) and I had to learn a lot of things I never even knew to know about computers!!! Windows had me so.... lacking in knowledge ya know... The point being that it can be intimidating and nerve wracking getting into this adventure of LINUX! But once it all comes together and you REALLY GET what is going on here you can get inspired! Once a person is willing to commit to LINUX and leave that Windows mentality behind the entire world changes! It's not what can I or can I not do? What software do I have to buy to do it?...Can I afford it?... The only question that you have to ask is HOW DO I DO IT!!!! No question of can or can't just how! When someone buys a piece of hardware or software for their Microsoft computer they have to ensure it will work with their VS don't they? So whats the difference here? Just make sure it works with LINUX! What is the problem? I don't see one. So if we can all help the newcomers to GET IT, their world will then change as well! :D

Sorry for the lengthy dialog... But just saying that no thanks is required seems a bit crude without explaining why. So now, having explained myself, I will say "no Thanks required", I am truly just glad I was able to find a solution for Theo and now, hopefully, they will have a better experience and pass that on to others as well.

Thank you,

Tranz

I have had an issue with my load of Ultimate Edition 1.7 on my AERO AR7. The issue is..my power settings keep making my monitor dim and brighten...as if the battery was dying....same if power source is plugged in or unplugged. It also reads my battery at a steady 0% and charging...if I load windows it reads the battery and monitor config correctly. This issue limits me from benchmarking with the new laptop, SSDrive, and Linux.
Sigh...
One more issue for another time.

You're the second person to have this (or similar) problem.
it seems the onboard Acpi and the *Nix power management don't always play well together.
If you disable the acpi in the Bios you will have a real good space heater,
so it would prolly be best to leave the onboard enabled and disable the software power management.
This should solve your problems.

Did you know if everyone had your attitude there would be no windows world, have you ever seen the movie "pay it forward"? It is selfless acts such as you and a select few others do that form a "community" as we have... Even though you say a thanks is not necessary, even a contribution as small as saying thanks goes a long way. I have in the past gotten "fed up" and wanted to quit, it is those thanks that have kept me going. No matter how you perceive this...

Thanks,

TheeMahn

I'm BACK!!! LOL I just installed Ultimate Edition 1.7 64 bit. It FLIES!!!! I got all my drivers working except for my wireless card. Yes again, I tried the mad wifi and ndiswrapper with no luck so far. Haven't had much time to go searching forums yet, but I will. If any on has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
