I have Ultimate Edition 38 installed on my T-series Lifebook and it is working ok for the most part but I would like to upgrade it to 4.3. Can anyone suggest the best method to upgrade my 3.8 I prefer a command line solution if possible. Thank you in advance

You can not upgrade to different versions of Ultimate Edition.

For the most part you should not run upgrade on Ultimate Edition either.

Really, the base of Ultimate Edition, Ubuntu should not be upgraded to the next version and generally there are problems of all types when this happens.

The best way is to install the next version.

One way to do this and keep your settings, files, etc.., is to assign a home partition separate from root with manual install.. After this has been accomplished one can always overwrite root with the new system while leaving home intact.

For the sake of future query from within and outside of the forum, please refrain from stating the versions with whole numbers. i.e. 38, 39, 40, etc..

It is worth it so that future users who wish to search the forum for answers, may stumble upon the coinciding version and have their answer. All it takes is a period.

This isn't to say I wish to dissuade you from experimenting. I've definitely upgraded Ultimate Editions. The thing is, that it isn't a new version of Ultimate Edition I am upgrading to, but the Ubuntu base. So if 3.8 was built off of 13.04 and I upgraded it, it would not be 3.9. It would be Ubuntu 13.10.
