Help and support for Ultimate Edition 3.8

Multiple caja windows on login.

Postby TheeMahn » Fri Feb 14, 2014 7:11 pm

I am posting this because a few days ago on my GF's computer I was writing some software and my screen got jittery and the mouse started skipping across the screen. I initially thought it was the 30 or so tabs that were open in firefox. I could not close firefox so I ctrl + alt + f3 to pull up tty3, logged in and sudo killall fire fox. ctrl + alt +f7 to return to the desktop and it was still jittery. back to tty3 and killall Xorg & relogged in greeted me with caja opening what seemed like 1000 instances. The end result was me using thumbos from tty3 to reload out Ultimate Edition 3.8 and reinstall.

This just happened to me again, I have now found a solution & thought I would share it should such an event happen to you.

Press CTRL + ALT + F3 and login
Code: Select all
sudo killall Xorg
sudo rm -R .cache/

press CTRL + ALT + F7 and log back in, problem gone.

I have never seen it come up more then once personally in Ultimate Edition 3.8, in Ultimate Edition 3.9 I have seen it. KDE handles /etc/xdg/autostart/ differently then Gnome, Mate, Etc. I would imagine removing the desktop file from that folder would rectify the situation, however when you want to use the program you would have to manually start it.
