Ultimate Edition 3.8 > maxes out my cpu

Postby jediboaz » Sat Jan 25, 2014 9:43 am

hi day folks,

i upgrade my UE3.6 to UE3.8, but have a little problem not sure how to go around it. the install
was perfect, but the moment i log in, the cpu max out and stays at 100%. Even if i use the
system monitor, and stop some of the services, it keeps hey. That means that all apps are so
slow its back to stone age. i am running a acer aspire one d270. i have read it may be the
firefox. when i stop the browser, it seems to have no effect.

any ideas what i can possibly do?

Thanks a million.

yea, its a shame, but i have installed 3.5 back up again, and it runs absolutely amazing. just worried that if i hit that "update" button, it will load what ever, and then it will trigger the cpu usage again. if i only knew what caused it, i would be able avoid it. the aspire runs stable with all the desktop environments, but found it to be extra kind with the netbook if i run xfce.

I will hang on for Ultimate Edition 4.0, and in the mean time stay with 3.5. Good Job guys with an extraordinary OS.

I have a couple netbooks with similar specs.

I could get 3.4 Lite(32) running on my Dell Mini, but recently installed DiamondllbKDE(64) over the whole thing and it runs slow on Gnome, Gnome Classic, but has no problems with KDE, Unity, Gnome Fallback(Effects) and Fallback (No Effects), untested on XBMC but that doesn't count...It runs, I know it does, lol.

However, on my Toshiba Satellite Netbook(Same Deal..1.6 Atom, 1GB RAM, etc.. etc..) I have left Windows and it's back-up partitions intact. Because of the partition layout alloted in order to install with out creating a swapfile, I had to rely on a USB Stick for Swap memory and I have to run pretty low, so I am running Mint 13 XFCE(32), and haven't had any issues.

What's odd though is I had problems with running Unity(Ubuntu 12.04, 12.10, 13.04, 13.10, Black Opal) and KDE previously on the Dell, 32 bit, but when I started using 64 most of the problems went away.

And now, the completely true facts, as told by an anonymous man hiding behind a screen name:
