3.7 Install issue

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 3.7

3.7 Install issue

Postby chris47 » Sun Nov 24, 2013 9:00 pm

Well what else is new.. 3.6 was a failure for me from the start, now it looks like 3.7x64 is going the same way.. I'm installing from a usb stick. 3.7 Loads to the DE real quick, but when I try to run install, it just hangs up at wireless.. I have tried to connect, plus not connecting to network, and install won't go any further.. I have also tried disconnecting one of my two hd's with no luck.. Have no clue why this being my second time trying to install one of the new Ultimate Edition with utter failure.. To me it seems as new ones come out, the harder they become to install.. 3.5 3.5.1 3.5.2 were also a pain but got them to install.. Well it looks like I will pass on Ultimate Edition until IMOP one comes along, that will install without me haveing jump through hoops to get it done..

To me a I should not have to go through all kinds of grief just to install a new OS. If it can't be installed without issues, to me it is not ready for public release, that is just my own opinion..

I'd agree with you too . I have installed Ultimate Edition 3.7 on a USB and it was smashing fast but when I tiried to logout it just hang there and started drooling long error mesages and then went stone dead :( I don't know what is happening to Ultimate Edition  I think Thee should pay attention to stability before releasing Ultimate Edition! Since Ultimate Edition 3.0 This OS has been going looser and looser! I think he should avoid mixing all Linux DEs in one OS!

Agree, one reason why I came to Ulitmate Edition was stability and ease of use.. Plus it came packed with more software than other distros and a few you had to purchase.. My most stable was 3.3 in my sig...

Finally got 3.7x64 installed.. I had to disconnect one of my two hd's and do a wipe that was suggestd by another user Rustygh who done this for 3.6. I should not have had to do this, as I ended up destroying another one of my Linux OS to acomplish this. I did however try Pam suggestion that he gave me, when I had troubles with installing 3.6x64, but that did not work.. So now I'm going to play around with this, then add my other Linux distro back on after I'm done testing 3.7.

Well playing around with this and have already found problems.. 1) additional drivers does not exist, doens't show a thing. 2) GNOME DE broke nothing there. 3) KDE keeps crashing. 4) If you choose software updates in Cinnamon it won't let you select all and when it does start to download you can't really see any progress.. If you try to close any thing you open in Cinnamon, there is not X you have to right click, and hope there is a close option..

My thoughts on Ultimate Edition 3.6 & Ultimate Edition 3.7... You can polish a turd, even gold plate it. It's still a turd. What did I have to work with? A turd 12.10 was truly a nightmare.

To be 100% honest with you I am glad to have that series behind me, I almost skipped releasing it.
