Testing the ability to upgrade 3.6 to 3.8

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 3.6

Testing the ability to upgrade 3.6 to 3.8

Postby TheeMahn » Mon Sep 30, 2013 4:59 am

Ultimate Edition 3.6 has been built for months, however vigorous testing has ensued:

Pushing Ultimate Edition 3.6 (12.10 Quantal) to what would be Ultimate Edition 3.8 (Raring 13.04):

Upgrading... Yes, there is a Ultimate Edition 4.0 based on Saucy Salamander.

If this is successful, it will be awesome to have the ability to upgrade w/o the need to download and install the entire O/S. I will post the results.

That was a long process 1 1/2hrs (not off a SSD).

If anyone can get it to work right, I have no doubt is you TheeMahn! Have to say, I had my 12.10 and it took over 5 hours to upgrade and the end result, never came back! Some of us out here do not backup our systems daily, which means possible loss of important files, did this myself on some reloads and upgrades. Now to have it work successfully each time an upgrade comes, that is a plain miracle, an advancement that will benefit everyone! You can bet will be cheering that on big time! Was a real drag to loose the upgrade when I tried so I will love to see it work! Sorry to hear about the loss of burners. Have Asus boards for both my girlfriend and myself. Hers is perfect, mine has some small power fluctuation with usb's. Is very strange, but has been there since day one. Basically once in a while, I loose connectivity through my wireless or inserting a flash drive may crash the system. Of course this happens maybe once a month so is not an overly serious problem. Only way I found this problem was due to how well Linux pinpoints on boot! Another reason Linux keeps me as a customer. The main reason is how brilliant you are! Is great to have someone so brilliant, working hard to make things work right for everyone. Also, I always feel seeing what you do is history in the making! Absolutely love that fact!!! Always enjoyed reading about such brilliance but to actually see it and have the person in my own time, is an absolute honor and miracle to see! Best wishes always!

I had loss of wirelss when trying to update my Garmin GPS once.. It took almost 3 hrs and still could not get it to work.. With Garmin, I found out their real picky. The tech told me to hard wire my laptop directly to the cable modem, and it worked like a charm.. I'm in the process of re downloading 3.5.1 and going to put it on a usb stick instead. My current copy on a disk keeps of failing. Had to replace the Hd it was on, so having to start all over isn't any fun.. Hell I couldn't get 3.4 to load either, and it ran great before.. Can't wait to try 3.6 or 3.8 Whater TheeMahn comes up with

I wish it were just the hardware being hooked up! On this board if is usb, is guaranteed once a month or some point will fail! Yes is strange and once again does not happen all the time. Once a month is also a roundabout figure as sometimes nothing happens for a few months, then presto it goes wacko for a day or two! Everything else works like a dream, so I just live with it for now! Actually seems to center around 3 of the usb ports and the other 3 are just fine. Am no electronics wizard so, I give on that! Takes hours to find something that is random as have learned from those that troubleshoot electronic problems of such. Of course we all know 90% of all hookups these days are usb as serial and ps2 went south! So I just live with it. At first thought was wireless connection, but as other devices failed and boot would show, I learned the above fact! Was kind of curious if TheeMahn has something similar happening. We are all human, not perfect so yes our hardware and equipment at times are going to emulate that fact! Last version I had on here was 3.5 and ran great! Was able to get many things done and forever grateful for how well it held all the time! I flat out tortured it and it kept running! Goes that way when we do not know exactly what we are doing!!! TheeMahn is the only one I know that is prepared so well for inexperienced users! Also is prepared for experienced users, so in my book is beyond awesome!
