Fresh install, upgrade t. 3.7 kernel, Same boat!!!!

Postby BBOSAK2143 » Fri Dec 14, 2012 11:41 am

I guess kernels just don't install as they should! Lost a lot of updates and stuff for my foolish mistake of thinking a kernel can actually be upgraded! On a fresh install went for the upgrade to 3.7 before anything else. Rebooted had the splash. Fglrx still will not install and ATI driver claims pieces missing again! No luck here at all sure wish would have been worth the effort but guess is just not written for my computer!

Have you tried to run the driver with the kernel parameters as stated in http://forumubuntusoftware.info/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8798?

I don't know is a disaster area of here! Tried to post before and it did the waiting for topic to be approved, so this header problem is huge! Has to extend past the video bit. Should I have installed the compiler 4.7.2 first? Should I have fixed the apt list? I did neither since the script specifically said is deb files. I simply figured would not need the new compiler for that. So am I wrong on that point? Apt list also since script was specific pointing directly to the deb files, figured no need! No real way to dowload debs and seems to be quirky on other issues. So definitely know assembly flopped! Surprised is running in this shape, but Ultimate is a very strong system! Love to get some answers on this as am a little confused! I just figured new install, load script let it roll and reboot! Never thought would be a hassle as have hardly ever had a problem installing a deb! Usually they error out before they get started if is a problem! Once again in a script fashion don't really understand the entire procedure! All help and advice greatly appreciated, just want to get there in one piece and running! Leftovers are good, but when you can't find them no really!!!!!
