Please humor me for a bit. Verify that you have done the following after your box is all up to date as per pam's instructions. Add the liquorix repos first:
Code: Select all
echo "deb http://liquorix.net/debian sid main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/liquorix.list
echo "deb-src http://liquorix.net/debian sid main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/liquorix.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install '^liquorix-([^-]+-)?keyring.?'

Then add the repo for gcc 4.7 and install (most important):
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gcc-4.7

Then lastly install the kernel headers and image
Code: Select all
apt-get install linux-headers-3.6.0-10.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64
apt-get install linux-image-3.6.0-10.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64

Not at all pam. The image and header I displayed should automatically install the latest versions of each. Ex. On Ubuntu if you install the linux-headers-amd64-generic package, it will automatically install linux-headers-3.2.0-4-amd64-generic. ;)

Keyword here must be fresh install on 3.5? If not am doomed! Just does not want to connect properly to deb. Gives this error all the time:[ Failed to fetch http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu] Have seen stuff like this before where some files aren't downloaded, but this one must be more serious since kernel doesn't compile right! Either debbie doesn't like me or she's doing dallas!lLOL! Had to toss an oldie but a goodie in there! Have added that repo, but they are either asleep at the switch or my computer just can't connect to them! PC Shot, love it, sure know how to cheer someone up when things get rough! Love the pic reminds me of Denzel!!!Denzel has to have the best speaking voice I have ever heard for an actor. Never miss a word he says!!!! Of course stubborn as a mule I am, have tried at least a dozen times to get those files from deb but just won't happen. Just compiles wrong like last time never completing drivers for wireless or Xorg among some other things. Just leave it in limbo! Paid real attention to detail this time and learned where the error starts at(archive.getdeb.net! Still would love to get pointed in the best direction to do all this manually! Am very hungry to know how to properly configure and install! Won't be much of a programmer til I least conquer that part! Either getdeb went out of business or just is no way for me to connect. Tried some info from Mint, nothing works won't give me header so am starting to believe they went out of business!!! So once again followed everything as listed and is the main error!!! getdeb turns me down refusing to give those headers!!!! Unless can get somewhere else have to scrap this idea, unless I just format and reload? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated as am running out of ideas doing this online update through terminal and being refused by one site! Can't even get to their site on web browser! So that is why I figure must be out of business!

I've always experienced issues with get deb and it's repos. You don't need anything from there anyways. Nothing new, just disable them in synaptic>settings>repositories>other software.

Thanks Micro

BBOSAK2143 If that really gets in your way and you cannot ignore it, then here's a way around it:
type this in terminal as root
Code: Select all
wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -

Code: Select all
sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu quantal-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'

got the above from this site:
http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppa/getdeb_apps

i hope this helps.............

Its not Denzel, its Michael Jordan

Re: Liquorix Limbo (3.6 S.O.S)

Postby BBOSAK2143 » Wed Dec 12, 2012 12:57 pm

kind of jumped the gun and made a move of my own. Went in etc/apt/sources.list.d/and dumped the list and referred it to the liquorix one. Did the update and it went through error less. Unistalled gcc 4.7.2 and re-installing at the moment. Hoping for a success on the compiler this time or will fail again with these headers. Lot of Googling for this and hoping will work. If not will have to reverse it again and do as you have listed. Read a few posts about getdeb being a dead-duck here and there, so when added that list on first command, using apt just blows it off and just goes to getdeb. Now those people there are very very cautious and don't release things without being totally stable or close. Probably wouldn't carry those header files as are within the past week new! This is much more educational than routers and subnets, although am sure as have been doing poor on that subject, might not make it! Have the test today, but haven't been able to concentrate on it much! Is not cause of Ultimate or learning these functions, simply hate it and is boring to me!!!! I know I have to make it to get my AAS, but think I would rather flip burgers or shovel something instead of headwreck over connections! Love software and systems and always have! Guess that is why I am on Ultimate! Best OS and most software can never beat that!!!! Hey Houston, we have ignition! No errors this time on GCC 4.7.2. Now will go for the headers. Staying on here to let you know! If all works can give a small warning about that getdeb stuff! No is a bust still won't put it together right! Guess can't win this one! Least have a good compiler from receiving no errors on install. Guess if want to do this stuff, either have to on a fresh install or not at all. Probably garbage left over, no OS gets rid of everything! Guess is just a no win for me today on this kernel! Thanks for your help and is not anyone's fault but mine, just didn't think about certain things as lists, before I started this! So is my fiasco! Still would love to suggest for those trying this same endeavor to warn them of that list! Probably would have succeeded if I would have known. Oh well live and learn! Thanks for that point, have learned a great deal from all this and am sure will succeed real soon!!!

You made some good progress, and i give you an A for effort. I'd like to say I would remote in and give it a go for you, but not sure if that would be against policy. Woah, now that would be cool. An Ultimate Edition Remote Support Service. Something like using Goto Meeting or even a simple VNC. Don't know of any other OS offering that piece of the puzzle for free on their Site's. Wonder if Ultimate Edition would consider something like this. Neways BBO we can always visit this again if time permits...

Postby BBOSAK2143 » Wed Dec 12, 2012 3:00 pm

Thanks very much for your words of encouragement Micro!!! I looked at the list with GCC and apparently even though seemed to compile correctly is using some files associated with 4.6.3. Most likely are update files. You know me always letting it update these days!!!! So when it sees the new files even though it is for 4.6 still takes them due to being newer. Is a natural reflex with installing things! This is why will probably just reload and go through the motions. That way those updates won't be there to mess with it. Also those files that I made last night will be gone! Was still curious on an answer for that. Question is when you use configure and then make, aren't the files supposed to go in the proper directory???? Last night was not the case, went all over the place like some insane paper shredder!!! Or is that scenario due to someone not writing the configure program properly????? Really want to learn this as have said so far Ultimate has been the only OS have had that is actually willing to compile things! Others claim all kinds of pieces are missing. Then when you go to get them reminds you of the leg bone connected to the thigh bone etc! I mean will be 20 to 30 files you wind up needing! Little exaggeration but is not far off! Still with what happened and all is and was a great learning experience! This is the first time have delved into any repair scenarios so least gain on it!!! More learning on the file structure is also a real plus! Sure am going to go at it again and most likely in the next day or two! The remote stuff yeah is a great idea and really like the idea, is just a shame are people that wrecked it for others. They manipulate it to do nasty things! Just wish were more people that would do what you people do! You help and inspire! This is what teaches us and helps and I think is the most satisfying thing in the world to help someone! Am also hoping I can still get pointed in the right direction to do this manually as want to mess with an older OS and see what happens! Is nerve racking to end up at sites that have information that is useless or outdated(same thing basically) So figure with the knowledge that is abundant here I can get led there, would greatly appreciate it! Is probably the project for next week right after get that old laptop working again. Of course that follow a new install and kernel on here!
